Three years ago, and only 3 months after the passing the Bar, I decided to leave the legal profession. I had worked so hard and for so many years to achieve what I thought was my “dream.” No one could understood why I wanted to change course. As far as others were concerned, I had only one path and I wasn’t allowed to stray from it. I spent so much time defending my decision, that even I began to wonder whether I had made the right choice. But deep down in my heart, I knew that I was doing the right thing. Despite my passion for justice, the day-to-day of a lawyer was just not suitable for me.
It took me a few tries, a few bad jobs, and a month of struggling to pay my rent on unemployment. But one day, I found myself on top. I had a short, but enjoyable time working for a job that I liked. A job that sent me to one of the best hotels in the world, and still supported my efforts to give back to my community.
Traveling always gives me perspective – especially when I get to view the world from an infinity pool 🙂
Listen to your heart. Accept that passions change. Keep exploring, and don’t live your life for others.
Your journey is your own.
